How big is the finished bag?

The Getaway Bag has finished dimensions of 20" wide x 12 3/4" height x 9" depth (51cm x 33cm x 22cm)

What materials do I need?

• 1m (1 ⅛ yd) exterior fabric
• 1m (1 ⅛ yd) faux leather (use second exterior fabric for domestic machines) (based on 140cm (55”) wide, narrower will need more)
• 2.25m (2 ½ yd) lining fabric
• 4m (4 ½ yd) medium weight interfacing (based on 90cm (1yd) wide, narrower will need more)
• 1.5m (1 ¾ yd) foam stabiliser (72cm (28") wide, narrower will need more)
• 1m (1 ⅛ yd) decovil light for domestic machines, 2m (2 ¼ yd) for stronger machines (if you want to add DVL to the lining main panels too)
• 0.6m (¾ yd) of elastic, 1cm (3/8") wide
• 10" (25.5cm) zip (#3) to match lining fabric (lining zip pocket) cut continuous zip to 12” (30.5cm)
• 7" (17.75cm) zip (#3 or #5) to match exterior fabric (exterior zip pocket/luggage sleeve) cut continuous zip to 8” (20.25cm)
• 26" (66cm) zip (#5) to match exterior (top zip closure) cut continuous zip to 28"
• 4 x 1” (2.5cm) rectangle rings
• 6 x ¾" (20mm) bag feet
• 17" x 7 ¾" foam core board (artists supply material, thin plywood may also work)

optional hardware

• 2 x 1" (2.5cm) triangle rings
• 2 x 1 ½" (3.8cm) swivel clips
• 1 x 1 ½" (3.8cm) strap slider
• 1 x bag label
• 12 x medium rivets
• 8” (20.25cm) of ¾” (2cm) wide twill tape (Note – this is only suitable for stronger machines)

You will also need the following

• Double sided basting tape
• Zip foot & walking foot
• Wonder clips
• Strong fabric glue (like Beacon Fabri-tac)
• Fray check
• Pressing cloth
• Pinking shears
• Duct tape
• Chalk marker/erasable pen
