Join Mrs H for a fun packed bag making weekend in the heart of South Wales!
When: Tuesday 19th May 2020 - Thursday 21st May 2020
You can arrive any time on Tuesday, and you can stay until tea time on Thursday, making it three full days of sewing!
Where: The magical Cwrt Bleddyn Hotel and Spa (Ramada Resort) at Llangybi, Usk. Parts of the hotel date back to Tudor times, when it was originally a hunting lodge visited by both Anne Boleyn and Jane Seymour. The hotel has clear signage from the main road, with the driveway crossing a small stream and winding past willowy trees.
It's easily accessible from the M4, midway between the two historic towns of Caerleon and Usk.
How Much?: The price for a shared room including cooked breakfasts, lunches, 2 course dinners and mid session refreshments is £400.
For those who'd rather not share a room, the full ticket price is £450.
What's included?: The retreat ticket includes a 2 course dinner on Tuesday and Wednesday, a cooked breakfast on Wednesday and Thursday, tea & coffee throughout, buffet lunch on Wednesday and Thursday. The ticket also includes 2 retreat patterns designed by myself, Mrs H. The May and October retreats will share one pattern which remains exclusive until after the October retreat. Skill builder sessions are held throughout the weekend*. I'll also be on hand all weekend to help with your bag making, give you extra tips, and tell you as much as you'd like to know about bag making!
Use of the hotel's swimming pool and gym is also included, and spa treatments can be booked at a discounted rate.
*Skill builder sessions will be run by myself, Mrs H, so in the super unlikely event that something out of my control (such as breaking both of my arms!) pops up, these will be substituted
What's the schedule?:
You can begin sewing at any time on Tuesday after 10am. Lunch isn't included on the Tuesday but you can grab a bite to eat in the casual hotel bar. We'll set up in the large communal sewing room, browse the pop-up haberdashery shop, enjoy refreshments mid afternoon, and get down to some serious bagineer bonding!
We'll dine in the hotel restaurant in the evening on a 2 course meal (we can arrange for dietary requirements in advance), and then you can either return to your sewing, or unwind in the hotel bar.
Wednesday will start with a cooked breakfast before we get back to sewing! With 2 retreat patterns to choose from, you're sure to be busy, or you can bring your own patterns to work on while you're there.
Everyone will be working at their own pace, but if you find you need a little help, don't worry, we'll have a few break-out skill builder sessions throughout the day, and of course, help is always available!
Wednesday evening we'll sit down to yet another yummy 2 course dinner, followed by sewing or relaxing in the bar.
Thursday being our last day you can check out of your comfy hotel bedroom before returning to your sewing. We'll enjoy a Thursday buffet lunch before finally finishing off any extra sewing for the retreat, packing up and starting our journeys home. If you wish to stay the Thursday night, after the retreat has finished, we can help arrange for your room to be kept for an extra night.
When will I receive the retreat patterns?: You'll receive the patterns at least 1 month before the retreat.
If you'd like to join us, you can currently buy tickets with a £120.00 deposit and the full amount to be paid 6 weeks before.
Terms and Conditions
Please contact us immediately if you find that you are unable to attend the retreat, if you cancel more than 4 weeks before the retreat, you will receive a full refund (minus Paypal fees).
If you cancel less than 4 weeks before the retreat you will not receive a refund. We may be able to help you to find someone to transfer your ticket to if you are unable to attend less than 4 weeks before the retreat.
In the very unlikely event of Mrs H not being able to attend, the retreat will continue as planned, with a substitute bag maker of sufficient skill to assist, if possible. Skill builder sessions are subject to the attendance of Mrs H, and may need to be substituted if there is a situation outside of her control.
Due to the limited availability of accessible rooms these will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. If we are unable to accommodate your needs due to no rooms to suit, then we will refund your ticket on booking
