  • Hi lovelies,

How are we all adjusting to autumn? It's so cold here that I've resorted to working with a hot water bottle as well as my usual cardi, scarf and fluffy socks!

I've seen some gorgeous carpet bags popping up on Instagram and I even had the pleasure of meeting up with Kerry from Pennydog Patchwork and Wendy from The Crafter's apprentice. Kerry had with her the carpet bag she's made during the sew along. Yes I did have a fondle of that beading on the front! Wendy had a City Slicker by Chris W designs and both were gorgeous! (The bags...)

  • Hi everyone,

A while ago we did a sew together in the Facebook group. We each worked on our own Gentleman's wallets, and where we ran into questions, we were able to help each other, as we were all working on the same project.

Here's some of the wallets which were made.

First up is this 'Sudoku' version by Alison, the owner of Bobbin Girl. It's excellent, I love the fabric!

  • We left off at Day 2 with assembling the exterior bag and adding the purse feet.  If you haven't already cut the frame channels, you can do that now after measuring the upper perimeter of the exterior of the bag. As the pattern indicates, for woven fabric, divide the perimeter by 2 and add 1/2" to find the length to cut for each frame channel. Turn and press a 1/4" hem on a short edge of a frame channel, turn and press 1/4" again, and stitch in place. Repeat for other short end of frame channel and both short ends of remaining channel. Now fold each frame channel in half, length wise, wrong sides together. If you're using a snap tab, refer to pattern to add it now.

  • Let's make the zippered pocket! Take one main lining panel and your interfaced zipper pocket piece and place the pocket piece right side down on the right side of the main lining panel, with short edge of pocket piece 1/2" from bottom edge of main panel for small bag, and 2" from bottom edge of main panel for large bag, pin in place. On the wrong side of the zipper panel, draw a box that is about 6" by 1/2" (the length will be determined by your zipper size). The box should be centred side to side, and approximately 6" from the bottom of the zipper panel for the small bag and 6.5" from the bottom of the zipper panel for the large bag.
